Support the Library

Dear Friend,

As I walk through our library, I see a young girl learning on an educational children’s computer while her mom studies on  her laptop.  A father is playing a block puzzle with his toddler, while his daughter colors.  I notice a staff member teaching a grandfather how to print a picture off Facebook and then moments later show another adult how to download books on their Kindle.  And a senior is quietly reading the newspaper in the reading corner.

One morning a young kid approached the circulation desk after Toddler Tales and said, “Hello, I heard a book read today and i would like to get it.  And could you ask the lady to come to my house and read it.  She did a nice job.”

Then, after school, things really get going as ten kids walk in for free tutoring sponsored by the library.  Teens study at tables and use computers for gaming.  Families comes in to borrow DVD’s for the evening and adults come in to attend evening classes.

The PCPL is a dynamic place to gather, a place to impact citizens of all ages, and a place to help secure a bright future for our residents.  However, we are more then a place, we are people.  The PCPL is a valued and important part of our lives and community-building connections happen every day.

As 2018 comes to a close and we look to the future, please remember that your donation to the library “Here for you” campaign will make a significant impact.  While public funding provides the library with general operating capital, it is your private donation that will help build the PCPL into an exceptional community resource.  We invite you to join us by investing in the Pike County Public Library’s future

Sincerely,

Stephanie Rawlins, Director
